I get it. I have been there. Many books on those topics are full of concepts and teachings that are not relatable to everyday life, particularly when you are starting to dive into the subject.
How would you like to learn about them via an engaging thriller?
Introducing two books by David Michie:
Both books unveil theories and practices whilst following interesting storylines.
I was bored to death painting the house and needed some entertainment, so I borrowed both as audiobooks from my local library.
However, if I were to do it again, I would go for a hard copy to take some notes. There are pearls of wisdom that you can miss when you are curious to know what happens next.
Also, whilst the author does a pretty good job of reading, I found his pace on the slow side. But then again, that could have to do with the boring painting I was dealing with.
The Magician of Lhasa follows two storylines. One is set in Tibet in 1959 where a group of monks are on a mission to protect some very valuable relics from the invading Red Army and escape to India. The other follows a nanotechnology researcher (Matt) that gets an opportunity to take his project to an incubator in Los Angeles.
The Secret Mantra follows Mat's story from the previous book.
Both stories draw links between Buddhism and Physics that may or may not be fiction, but they leave you with the feeling that there's more to life and that everything is connected.
I do hope you give them a try.
